Identification of two robust cerebrospinal fluid biomarkers of early multiple system atrophy

  • Alpha-synuclein oligomers and neurofilament light chain in cerebrospinal fluid are robust biomarkers of early multiple system atrophy.

Why this matters

There is an urgent need for reliable biomarkers to enable early and accurate clinical diagnosis of multiple system atrophy. These findings support the role of alpha-synuclein oligomers and neurofilament light chain in cerebrospinal fluid as reliable diagnostic biomarkers that may be better than those currently available.
